Juice Reducers

Based in Shebbear, Juice Reducers supplies and installs the Juice Reducer. So what is it, what does it do, and how does it work? Essentially it is the most cost effective energy saving measure that you don't already have. The Juice Reducer is a "fit and forget" electrical unit that is installed near to your fusebox or consumer unit (that box in the cupboard with all those mains switches). What it does is reduce your electricity consumption, on average by 10%, and up to 15%. So how does it do this? Well, average UK mains voltage is 245 volts. This is actually too high when all your lights and appliances, made to EU standards, are designed to work at 230 volts average and run at their optimum efficiency on 220 volts. What is more, they wear out more quickly too; quoting from the BS7671 wiring regulations: "A 230v rated lamp used at 240v will achieve only 55% of its rated life". The Juice Reducer cuts and "purifies" the supply voltage to a smooth and steady 220 volts, so that your lights and appliances use less power and last longer.

Of course, you may be understandably skeptical as to whether or not it actually works. Well, the technology per se is not new - it has been used in industry for over 20 years, in fact Tesco saved £1.8M last year using it. However, it has only recently become available for use in small circuits, i.e. domestic and light commercial applications. It has been thoroughly independently tested and approved by OFGEM, The Energy Saving Trust and the Dept. of Energy and Climate Change.

So how much does the Juice Reducer cost? Normally, £499-00 fully installed, with a 10% discount for Shebbear and Buckland Filliegh parish residents. Juice Reducers is also a distributor for the excellent, Which? recommended Utility Warehouse, of which we offer a year's free membership when you invest in the Juice Reducer. Of course you can do the maths, but we estimate a payback time of four to five years - that's quicker than virtually any other energy saving measure.
