A
message from Andy Tucker
As
many of you know I am a Rotarian at our Hatherleigh and District
club. Our Village is well represented with a number of members
coming from both Shebbear and Buckland Filleigh. I was a founder
member some 11 years ago and president 2000/1 and 2005/6 .We all
extend an invitation to those who would wish to visit us on a
Monday evening at our regular meeting to see the good work and
friendship we share. Many many thousands of pounds have been raised.
Our very own village has benefited from donations not least £500
last year for the skate / BMX area at the village hall, Devon
Air Ambulance etc. We are a dual gender club but sadly, as yet
no ladies have taken up the challenge (perhaps 2 could hit us
by storm) The first visit is free including a meal although we
won't mind if you pay. We welcomed a new Shebbearian in April
07 and would be delighted to accept more. A number of us share
transport and the reasonably priced meals are fantastic at the
George Hotel. One of us would pick up and return you, saving that
initial lonely walk in.

Dear
Neighbours,
My project
raising money for ROTARY is doing well and thanks today to the third kind
Shebbear resident who called me to donate their old car. My total raised
through this scheme will now break the £1,000 barrier.
How it
all works.
People donate their old car or other valuable scrap to this cause and
I then combine one of my regular trips up the country to collect cars
for my customers to buy with the delivery of the scrap one to a recycling
centre who due to their location will pay more the cars etc. than any
of our local yards do. The whole amount raised goes to "Rotary charity
account" ready for distributing to needy causes. I would like to point
out that "Shebbear good causes" have in fact already benefited by sums
in excess of that raised by this current initiative. Two cars have even
been delivered to me from Plymouth proving how generous people can be.
Thank you to the three from Shebbear.
Hopefully
this will spur on more of you to do the same. Please, all remember us
and let us do some good with your cast-offs. If you're uncertain if its
of value to us then please give me a call because every little helps.
We can also collect in some instances.
Yours
in gratitude Andy Tucker (Rosehill Garage)

who having failed to sell his old car privately gave it to me to dispose
of for Rotary. I sold it for two hundred pounds. Even dead ones are worth
money for recycling nowadays. PLEASE HELP --- EVES phone Andy on 281334
